“Legend says, that you need to be nice to them so they are nice back. They originated out of Scandinavian folklore and were “house gnomes” who lived in or under the house. They would protect the children and animals from evil or misfortune.”

These Gnomes seemed like the perfect fit for the Christmas garden of flowers underpainting that manifested for these ornaments—I just couldn’t resist trying my hand at painting some of these little guys!

Each ornament in this series features three Christmas Gnomes seated on the snow-covered ground amidst a magical snowfall. The marks of the garden are clearly visible in their hats, on the “backside” through the navy night sky, and in the snowy ground. Each Gnome hat has metallic gold accents at its tip and trim.
